2011/2012
Martin del Amo collaborates with a diverse group of dancers to develop new short dance solos to be incorporated into his multi-part choreographic project, Slow Dances For Fast Times.
Once completed, the project will consist of twelve solos performed by a diverse range of dancers from distinctive cultural and artistic backgrounds, of different ages and from different States. Slow Dances For Fast Times is designed as a collaboration between del Amo and the solo performer in the creation of a unique choreographic portrait. Each piece is set to the length of a recorded track and encapsulates a single choreographic idea that is developed with the dancer. Each piece will differ radically in style, feel and look, as del Amo selects dancers from distinctive cultural and artistic backgrounds, of different ages and from different States.
The solos are designed to be performed in diverse settings – outdoor, theatre and cabaret, to name a few. They can be shown individually or in combination with others. The aim is that at the culmination of the project all of them will be presented together.
